eBay displaying shipping dates in Seller Manager when in reality the date is the date you printed the postage.

PWC Blog - May 19, 2009

I started to notice (This may have been around for awhile and I am now just noticing it) that in the Seller Manager program a column that displays the date the item was shipped.  (Note: I went to another one of my eBay accounts where I have purchased an item for another seller recently and this information on when the item was shipped does not show up there).

With the enhancements eBay has said will roll out June 15th I am wondering if this information will show up on the buyers side.

The problem I have with the shipping date is that the date displayed is the date I printed the shipping label - not the date printed on the shipping label.

I normally print my shipping labels around 3 pm for the next day.

(Note: You can print a label via PayPal shipping up to 4 days in advance).

If eBay is going to show my buyers that the item shipped May 18th - when in actuality the item shipped May 19th - May 18th was the day I printed the label - this will not properly set the buyers expectations for the arrival of their purchase.

I do plan to share this concern with eBay - in the meantime I am going to be prepared by fine tuning my email templates via Seller Manager to alert the buyers of the actual shipping date.
